Eragon
Some of my friends recently introduced me to the book Eragon and its now one of my favorites. I personally am very into fantasy and dragons, which is probably why I’m such a big fan. It takes a whole new spin on dragons. Typically dragons are pictured as violent, wild beasts, but not in this book. They have personalities, are not always bad, and are able to communicate with the people. The writing isn’t the best, but considering the author, Christopher Paolini, was only 15 when he wrote it, I found it really impressive. I strongly encourage reading the book, whether or not you’ve seen the movie. They are very different, though both good. I also enjoyed the second book in what will be a four book series, Eldest. The third comesout on September 23(I think).

Mmmmhmm. I agree. I couldn’t put Eragon down once I picked it up, and I just bought Eldest today!
I really enjoy the story too and I think that it is worthwhile for anyone who loves fantasy to try it out!

I also agree with both the above. While the writing wasn’t spectacular the overall plot and the development of the characters were well done. I enjoyed reading about Eragon’s journey around Alagaesia and his journey to reinvent himself after his many losses. I would recommend reading this along with its sequel Eldest which i think is a better book. Fans of this might enjoy reading The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathon Stroud. While not about dragons this book does feature magic and demons. The Bartimaeus Trilogy consists of The Amulet of Samarkand, The Golem’s Eye, and Ptolmeys Gate.

I’ve heard a lot about both the books and the movies, but never got around to checking them out, though I’ve always meant to. It appears interesting and I’m always up for a good read. Fantasy isn’t my main genre of interest, though I have found some enjoyable reads in the genre (and I’m pretty open anyway. A good book is a good book. It’ll catch my attention all the same). This review might have again sparked that interest to look into Eragon. Thanks!
(and let me say, overlordofducks for a screenname, is ingenious. Awesome!)
